CBeebies called on to help the government tackle child obesity by saying ‘chips are bad’ on TV.

Jeremy Hunt said it is shameful that one in five children leave primary school obese and he highlighted the ‘very close correlation’ between social class and child health.

Mr Hunt warned it is a ‘national disgrace’ that 10 per cent of children aged seven to 11 are becoming clinically obese, adding this could dent their self-confidence and academic performance.

180 degrees agree that something has to be done to tackle the issue of childhood obesity, but could television intervention be a good tool to get across to the kids the importance of healthy food choices?

Could we also start talking to the parents a bit better, offering cooking skills classes for young adults / parents, or have go to recipes for parents to print out for their kids snacks.

It’s endless what can be done, and we would love to know what you guys are doing to offer your kids a healthier alternative to snack foods?

Please leave a comment on our facebook page, we look forward to reading them all.
